VACUUM PUMP FOR STRIPPING SYSTEM
The vacuum unit consists of a vacuum pump, a sealing water tank and a float level valve. It is mounted on the bulkhead separating the engine and pump rooms.
Located in pump room are the water ring type vacuum pump, water tank with sealing water cooler and float level valve. The electric motor is located in engine room (non-hazardous area).
Pump specification
Capacity (Q): 230 m³/h
Total head (H): 65% vacuum
Nominal speed (n): 1750 min-1
Motor power (P): 17 kW
At this moment, we have 3 pumps on stock and they are ready for delivery in very short term.
General design
The compact design makes inspection and maintenance easy. Sealing water for the vacuum pump is to be supplied from the ships fresh water supply system. Water is separated from the air gravitationally in the sealing water tank. A float valve together with an overflow pipe ensure that the tank is not overfilled. Cooling is maintained through a coil placed in the tank in which sea water circulates.
Consumption of sealing water is minimal and replenishment is controlled by the float valve.
Working principle
When pump starts, vacuum pressure is created. Air/gas is then drawn in through the inlet of the pump. The evacuated air/gas is compressed and discharged through the outlet into the sealing water tank. Tank the sealing water is gravitationally separated from the air and is recirculated back to the vacuum pump.
Exhaust air/gas exits the tank through a central top pipe.
